May: Second fortnight celebration of the Battle of Crete. Includes memorials to the fallen and various cultural events.
Each May: "Korisia" athletic games, Canoe kayak, at lake Kournas.
Early Summer: "Venizelia" International athletics, at the National Stadium of Chania.
May - September: Sports events in the Municipality of Cydonia, which include running, Beach Volley, Beach Soccer, Beach Handball & racket.
July, August, September: Cultural summer, at the Municipality of Chania. Includes musical and theatrical performances at the theater in Eastern Trench, at the Garden, at the Conservatory of Venizelos, at the Park of Peace and Friendship and other events in various neighborhoods. Cultural summers are also organized by the municipalities of Kissamos, New Cydonia, Pelican and Georgioupolis.
June: Cherry Festival in Karanry.
June 24: Feast of St. John Klidonas in Fres, Akrotiri, Perivolia Therissos, Vamvakopoulo.
July 21-28: Elafonisia - Municipality of Innachorio. Include a memorial service at the monument of Elafonisi, athletic games, performances,
celebration in honor of elders and traditional treats.
July 26: The Association for the Tourist Promotion of Kissamos, "Grambousa" organizes a pilgrimage excursion from the port of Kissamos to Balos and the island of Grambousa.
July 30-31: Wine Festival in Vouves.
First Sunday of August: Blessing of the fruit of the land at the monastery of Archangel Michael (Rotunda), in Kato Episkopi.
July: Feast kalitsounia in Kandanos.
July: Marine Week at the Municipality of Chania, at the Old Port and every second year in Paleochora and Georgioupolis.

Annual Religious Events
Holy Week: Throughout the prefecture, the Passion and the day of Easter are celebrated with reverence, and in the Easter day there is dancing, while spit lamb and wine are offered.
April 23 or the day after Easter: Feast of St. George: in Vryses, New Roumata, in Kalogeros Strouvlon, Psathogianno, Kambanos, and in Asi Gonia. In Asi Gonia, the shepherds of the region bring in the flocks for the sanctification and offer milk and meat with rice to the attendees.
June 8: St. Theodore: in Thodorou island.
August 6: Transfiguration: Kalyves, Xirosterni, Kefalas (Vamos municipality), Tzitzifes, Voukolies, Maleme, Kakopetro, Plemeniana.
